Places & Spaces That Inspire is a series of design inspiration with no specific theme or purpose, just beautiful spaces and links to the creative minds behind the projects. Enjoy!
It’s finally dipped below 90 degrees here in Southern California, so I have to take that as my sign that fall is fast approaching. Fall is actually my favorite time of year, so I am excited for even the slightest chill in the air. In honor of autumn and fall, and the changing of seasons, I’ve put together a few inspiring places that elicit that summer-to-fall feel. Let’s dive in!
I absolutely love this kitchen. From the marble floors and counters, to the cabinetry and brass accents, it has so many different layers and textures that play together so beautifully, and create a really unique and fun space. I’m also a huge fan of arched doorways, and the space that leads from the kitchen into the dining nook is a really cool detail. I’m also obsessed with dark green, so the set of doors that flanks the nook instantly grabbed my attention.
This living room from Alexander Design Build’s Outpost project is stunning. The ceiling detail and exposed beams alone would make this a beautiful space, but the finishes and decor really complement the overall aesthetic the ceiling creates. And again, I’m obsessed with anything dark green, so the couch is a beautiful addition.

Could I write from this office? Absolutely! This office is part of West of Main’s Homeward Bound project and is the ultimate moody and refined space while also being cozy and inviting. It says “please don’t bother me, I’m working” but also says “come in and sit down” at the same time. It’s very approachable, which is sometimes hard to do with moody spaces, and offices, so kudos to West of Main on this one.
All sorts of yes to this kitchen design. I love a breakfast nook, and especially one with a built-in bench that also serves as a window seat (and seems to have built-in storage underneath too, wow!). There’s something about breakfast nooks that just scream “family memories” to me, and I can easily see homework being done, holiday dinners, Christmas morning, all sorts of gatherings happening here. I think that’s one of the biggest aspects of design for me, is creating spaces that feel lived in and functional, while also looking really beautiful, and this space definitely does that.

We’re going a little retro with this Mid Mod Ranch project from Bishop Studio, but the wood panelling, accents, and mid-century modern flare just screamed cozy to me, which obviously makes me think of fall. And let’s not forget to mention that incredible floor! I’d have no idea how to keep it clean (it looks like brick so maybe it wouldn’t be too difficult?) but it’s fabulous and it deserved a shoutout.

Last, but not least, is this Sun Valley Ski House project from Yond Interiors. It screams fall coziness to me, but with all the natural light and pops of color, it would be a beautiful space year-round. I love how they layered so many different textures and patterns, and although wood panelling isn’t something I’m particularly pulled to, I actually really like it in this space.
And that wraps up this month’s places and spaces that inspire post! I hope this brought you some design inspiration and that you’re preparing for fall which is right around the corner. I’ll see you back here next time for some more places and spaces that inspire!
