I love athleisure. Leggings and a t-shirt, workout clothes, bike shorts. They’re the most amazing, throw-on-and-go outfit idea around. But, there are times when my athleisure outfits trend a little more frumpy and disheveled than cute. Or I look at pictures and say to myself, “Don’t I have other stuff to wear?” And I’m not talking about a dress and heels. I just mean something that’s cute and comfy and makes you feel good when you wear it. So if you’re looking for a casual outfit that isn’t leggings and a t-shirt, and are still trying to beat this summer heat, then I’ve got 5 casual summer outfit ideas (with links) below!

Outfit #1. The grown up school uniform
All the the schools I went to growing up required a uniform or dress code, so khaki shorts and pants are forever burned into my brain as school clothes. Any time I see them, I think right back to the countless hours I spent in khaki shorts and a polo shirt. Hence my naming of this outfit.
Despite my strong feelings towards khakis, this outfit is a really cute, casual summer outfit idea. It’s dressed up enough to look like you really put effort into getting ready, but casual enough that you won’t feel uncomfortable all day. And with the perfect top knot bun, or ponytail, it’ll be even better for the summer heat.

Outfit #2. The Throw-On-and-Go Outfit
Like athleisure, dresses are some of the easiest throw-on-and-go options around, and this yellow dress seemed like the perfect casual summer option. The color is just right for the season and the side-tie feature helps accentuate your waist, keeping it from looking like a big, shapeless t-shirt. Now all you have to do is accessorize and you’re all set for whatever comes your way. Whether it’s a day of errands or last minute dinner plans, you’ll be cool and comfortable all day long.
Dress // Aritzia Fortune Maxi Dress in Soft Apricot Peach
Sunglasses // Quay Level Up 51mm Square Sunglasses in Chocolate/Brown Gradient
Purse // Abercrombie & Fitch Straw Packable Tote Bag in Black Pattern
Sandals // Dolce Vita Leanna Sandals in Natural Raffia
Outfit #3. The Coffee Run
As I was putting this outfit together, I kept picturing running to get coffee or picking up lunch from a cute little cafe. It also reminds me of summer mornings by the beach, where the fog is just starting to burn off and the sun and summer heat are starting to peak through. Regardless, it’s a great casual summer outfit that’s comfy and cute, while also being practical for summer weather.
Shirt // Abercrombie & Fitch Oversized Gauzy Shirt in White

Outfit #4. Saturday at the Farmer’s Market
This outfit feels a little reminiscent of the 90s to me, and would be the perfect outfit for a quick weekend run to the farmer’s market. It’s great for those days when you’re planning on spending most of the day at home, but you have to run out for a few things first. Or maybe you’re meeting someone for a picnic at the park, and plan on kicking your shoes off and just relaxing in the summer sun. It can be whatever you want it to be, but most importantly, it’s casual and comfortable.

Outfit #5. I’ve Got Plans
When it comes to casual summer outfit ideas, this one is definitely my favorite. (I like the others too, but this one turned out better than I expected!) It’s casual but also says I have plans and I’m trying to look cute. From breakfast with friends, to a quick stop by the office, or burgers and a baseball game, you’re covered and look casually well put together.
