One of my favorite things about the beginning of fall is decorating for Halloween. Growing up, we’d always decorate, and it’s just a fun time to switch things up and get really creative with your decor. I just started decorating for Halloween a couple years ago (here’s my 2021 decor and my 2022 decor), and one thing I’ve kind of landed on is halloween decor that’s subtle but spooky at the same time.
So for this Halloween decor roundup, I pulled together a couple items that are subtle and spooky, without being over the top. Hope you find some inspiration or something you like!
Halloween Moodboard
To create a subtle, spooky halloween look, I try to focus on things that are dark and moody but don’t scream halloween. I love a good pumpkin and the occasional zombie statue, but I prefer to keep it understated for my indoor decor.
With even a couple of the items above, you can create the perfect halloween vibe without going over the top. All of the products are linked below if you see something you like!
Halloween Decor Products
1 – Etsy Dark Moon & Tree Painting Printable Wall Art // I love using printable wall art for quick and easy decor. (Click here to see how I used printables to decorate last year!) This picture is the perfect amount of dark and moody and is only a couple dollars on Etsy, but you will need to print it and frame it yourself just FYI.
2 – Target Halloween Grass Arrangement // This arrangement is the perfect way to add some spookiness to your space. You can easily swap it out for a vase you already have and add a small pumpkin or two and transform your entry table or mantle into a little halloween vignette.
3 – Anthropologie Lacy Fan Candleholder // I love the look of this candleholder! It adds the right amount of moodiness to a space and looks great with the candlelight shining through. It can also be used year-round, which makes it even more useful.
4 – Target Oversized Boo Throw Pillow // A simple and affordable throw pillow that can be added to your favorite chair or couch. Add a dark colored throw and you’ve created a simple halloween set up with just two items.
5 – Pottery Barn Figural Skull Stoneware Candy Bowl // Love this candy bowl! It’s subtle and understated, but the skulls around the edges add the right amount of spooky.
6 – Crate & Barrel Faux Black Branch Wreath // Crate & Barrel has had this wreath for the past couple years, and it’s still one of my favorites. It’s the perfect way to add a bit of spookiness to your front door or over your mantle. And it’s reusable so you can use it over and over again!
7 – Crate & Barrel Black Halloween Haunted House Sculpture // These little haunted house sculptures come in small, medium, and large and add the perfect touch of halloween without being over the top.
8 – West Elm Metal Snake Votive Candleholder // West Elm has some of my favorite halloween decor and this candleholder is definitely a keeper. It’s also quite the centerpiece for a dining or entry table and instantly creates a moody, spooky vibe.
9 – West Elm Slithering Snake Pillow Cover // Another one of my favorites from West Elm’s halloween collection. You can easily swap it out with a lumbar pillow you already have and add a little bit of halloween to your space.
And that wraps up this post! Hope you found something you like or at least found some inspiration for your decor! How do you like to decorate for Halloween? Do you go traditional or more spooky and subtle?
And an even better question, how early do you decorate? I usually aim for October 1st, but that doesn’t always happen. Anyways, happy decorating!
